Construction
Forest Garden brings over 50 years of expertise to the Xtend range. The use of Structural Insulated Panels ensures a damp-free, energy-efficient structure that maintains comfort year-round.
Wall SIPs consist of 75mm insulation sandwiched between two sheets of oriented strand board, totalling 97mm thickness, preassembled and pre-cut for easy construction. Each wall features 15mm premium tongue and groove external cladding in kiln-dried timber, supported by 28x28mm framing. Internal cladding is pre-cut MDF with a vertical beaded profile, pre-coated in primer and ready for your choice of colour. The combined thickness of SIPs, cladding and cavities reaches 177mm, far exceeding standard log cabins.
The floor SIP measures 108mm total thickness, with wrapped floor bearers preventing rot and damp rising from the ground. The uncovered interior allows you to add your choice of flooring.
Roof Types
This garden office has a flat roof built from 122mm SIPs, sandwiched between OSB boards for robust weather protection. The EPDM rubber membrane roof covering carries a 50-year guarantee, resisting cracks, splits, rot, moss and algae growth. UV-stable and maintenance-free, it’s applied as one continuous sheet with no joins, finished with anthracite grey fascias.
Doors & Windows
Abundant natural light enters through fully glazed double doors with an adjacent full-length window pane featuring a half-height opening section. A further full-length side pane includes another half-height opening window. All frames are uPVC with 5-chamber specification, modern anthracite grey with grained finish outside, smooth white interior. All glazing is A-rated and toughened for safety. The reinforced door frame includes a key-operated 7-point multi-lock with Ultion three-star security barrel.
Treatment & Guarantee
The timber is supplied untreated and requires treatment upon assembly and annually thereafter with a recommended wood finish such as Sikkens or Osmo. The structure carries a 15-year structural guarantee, and the EPDM roof a separate 50-year guarantee.
